Power Outage

<----- Grandma Marion and the kids!
We had an early Christmas at mom and dads since we can't all be together for the holiday this year...
Well the holiday season came in with a bang for us...! It started out with a snowstorm that just kept coming down, we got about 31 or more inches in one day (this started Thursday morning)by Thursday night we couldn't see off our deck (pictures below) and by 7 p.m. we had no power (due to heavy snowfall and strong winds)...
Friday morning came with snow that still hadn't stopped falling and still no power... Josh and Ryan went over to try to dig out the walkways and decks at Natapoc.... people weren't thrilled that there was no power, but once they found out they didn't have it at thier homes on the coast either they were a little more understanding...
The kids stayed at friends Friday night in town (they had power) and we headed to Jeff and Rose's to borrow thier shower...hehe, you don't realize how much you take water for granted...we grabbed some mexican food for dinner and went and bought about 30 gallons of water to share with mom and dad and the cabins...
You really don't realize how much you take for granted until you have no water or electricity~ we are quite spoiled really, internet, phones,tv, oh what will the kids do without phone and internet?Forget the kids what will we do..hehe! We played trivia in the living room with candles and a kerosene lantern until we were all so tired we fell into bed... we do have wood heat so we at least we were warm!
When we got home on Friday night it was almost midnight so it was a lil chilly in our house a crisp 46 degrees... usually our dogs and kitten greet us at the door with barking and wagging tails... not this time... we had a flashlight so we flashed it around and didn't see them anywhere.. finally I went into our bedroom and flashed it on the bed and up popped 3 heads from under the covers...haha, they were cold and all snuggled together and once they realized we were home they were thrilled... we debated on starting the stove or waiting til morning.. and we were tired and our bed was warm so we got in bed (yes the animals were in there too) we live in a zoo I tell ya... in the morning it was down to 43 degrees... I rolled over and said hey Josh do you think you might want to start a fire..hehe... he moaned but got up and got the wood stove roaring it was warm in here in no time... our power came back on around 5:30 p.m. Sat night and all is right in our world once again...hehe.. !
